About the project

Winkel Wrinkle is a platformer in which players must overcome obstacles to climb upwards. There are various game mechanics that enable progress.

The game was designed and planned as a team effort. I was involved in the teamwork and was the lead programmer for all game mechanics.

Gameplay

As Knopfi, you play a little character in a children's room-like level. You can fold away obstacles, switch between 3D and 2D, and push or rotate various objects.

Challenges

This was the first Unity project I ever worked on. Back then, the biggest challenge was implementing the function for switching between 2D and 3D.
After a few years, I revised the project. I added controller support and revamped the technical systems to make the game more playable. I documented the changes in a YouTube video.

The figure can fold itself into the wall with the help of other objects, such as a hammer. In places where the paper is torn, it can be changed back to its 3D form.
With the help of the record, certain objects can be rotated by 90°. This allows you to reveal things and move forward.
Some objects are made of paper and can be folded. This opens up paths through or over obstacles, for example.
